Isola è caso studio per l’Università Milano Bicocca

Our web agency, Isola di Comunicazione, became a case study within a university project, thanks to the selection of a group of female students from the Economics and Management course at theUniversity of Milan-Bicocca.

We thank Erika Cerizza, Francesca Gordon, Meixin Lin, and Hanane Aidoudi for their interest and attention to our work-it is a pleasure to be part of your journey.

Make IT a Case: the educational journey that led to Isola’s selection

The project work aimed to identify and analyze Italian startups and SMEs that stood out for innovation, corporate values, and growth strategy, with the possibility for selected cases to enter the national competition Make IT a Case.

The criteria dictated by the educational project for students’ choice of companies were based on a few key principles, including:

  • Focus on innovation and sustainability, paying special attention to the digital and energy transition (with reference to the goals of the Agenda 2030);
  • amultidisciplinary analysis including business strategy, management, marketing and economic/financial aspects;
  • The enhancement of local realities, often little known but with high potential;
  • attention to inclusiveness and gender equality, assessing both the presence of women within the corporate workforce and whether women are leading or managing entrepreneurship.

Starting from this context, we were chosen as a company in line with the values and objectives of the project: in fact, Isola is a reality capable not only of combining strategy, communication and creativity but also of generating a positive impact, thus becoming a point of reference for the students’ academic path.

Isola di Comunicazione’s values as a university case study

The reasons behind choosing Isola di Comunicazione as the communications agency to analyze for these students’ educational project are the main elements and values that define our identity, strategy, and approach to the digital market.

In particular:

Solid and steady growth

Founded in 2012 by our founder Lorenzo Zesi, Isola di Comunicazione has pursued a path of steady growth from micro to small business. One of our major milestones has been Google Premier Partner 2025 certification: recognition that places us in the top 3% of the best performing communication agencies nationwide. This title reflects both the quality of the services we offer and our ability to innovate and adapt to technological innovations, always keeping customer satisfaction as the central pivot of our operations.

The students emphasized how this achievement is a tangible sign of our professionalism toward the client and our effectiveness in managing performance marketing campaigns, strategic consulting and website implementation.

Integration of technological innovation and human sensitivity

At Isola di Comunicazione we make use of artificial intelligence and advanced tools to optimize work processes and increase the efficiency of our team. However, we are aware that technology cannot replace human beings, especially in a field like communication, where empathy, intuition, and the ability to interpret are crucial.

Precisely in this regard, our founder Lorenzo Zesi emphasizes, in the interview he gave for the project, how the ability to read conversations, gestures and movements, in a true semiotics of communication, represents an exclusive and inimitable value of people. This balance between technology and humanity was a distinctive factor that struck the students, highlighting our ability to innovate without losing touch with the most human aspects

Inclusive, safe and sustainable work environment

Isola di Comunicazione ‘s corporate culture turns out to be an additional reason for the university project. In fact, our team is young, dynamic and composed of about 70 percent women, which is significant in terms of gender equality.

In addition, we promote a work environment based on motivation, meritocracy, and work-life balance. Through smart working policies, corporate welfare , and the potential future design of an in-house nursery, we invest in the well-being of our employees to ensure stability and satisfaction in an increasingly fast-paced and competitive work environment. This, not only impressed the students positively, but also falls within the values and criteria of the “Make IT a Case” project, which aims to enhance all-around responsible and sustainable businesses.

Data-supported strategies for strong customer relationships

From a strategic point of view, Isola di Comunicazione is distinguished by a “lean” organizational structure, which allows for rapid decision-making and adaptability to every need, all in a creative, flexible environment accompanied by an “open door” policy.

Another distinctive feature of Isola is our ability to build customer loyalty, which stems from constant monitoring and optimization work, supported by reading data and measurements, as well asconsulting activities that put the needs of each company at the center. In an industry characterized by fierce competition and rapid change, this attention to detail and the willingness to create and attend to lasting relationships is an important competitive advantage.
