Goals
For the IUGS (International Union of Geological Sciences), we carried out a complete redesign of the website, with the goal of revitalizing the digital presence of this organization of geologists and making it easier and more modern to access its content, activities, and publications.
Founded in 1961, the IUGS is one of the largest international scientific organizations in the world. It brings together 74 active national members and promotes cooperation among countries, institutions, and scientific communities in the field of Earth Sciences, fostering the sharing of knowledge and its contribution to the well-being of society.
The project began with the reorganization of the information already available on the previous website. The main requirements were:
The new visual design guides users through a vast and comprehensive collection of information, including projects, commissions, national members, affiliated organizations, events, international initiatives, documents, and scientific publications.
The redesign went beyond just the site’s graphic design. We also worked on the content structure, simplifying the navigation paths and highlighting the information already collected by the IUGS over the years.

The result is a more up-to-date, well-organized, and accessible institutional website that effectively showcases the international scope of IUGS and supports the dissemination of its activities within the global scientific community.

Site Pluses
We have revamped the website’s visual identity with a more contemporary, fresh, and clean design. The new design preserves the organization’s authoritative character while highlighting its international and scientific dimensions.
The content from the previous website—including scientific information, documents, publications, and archival materials—has been retrieved and made more accessible through a new site architecture.
We have updated and improved the graphics and usability of the interactive map that was already featured on the previous website. This section allows you to immediately view the geographic distribution of our members and identify the various countries represented within the organization.
The website was developed to ensure a smooth browsing experience even on smartphones and tablets. Text, menus, images, and archives adapt to different screen sizes while maintaining clarity, readability, and ease of use.
We have redesigned the events section using a customized solution designed to highlight the extensive program of events organized and promoted by IUGS. Individual events are presented in a calendar format and accompanied by a brief description.
