Fraudulent clicks are becoming a serious problem that often jeopardizes the success of an Ads campaign. More and more competitors, haters and bots are trying hard to zero in on your advertising budget by interacting with ads with the sole objective of getting you to pay for the click you receive.

Of course, these practices are illegal. Google itself tries – with swinging zeal – to curb the damage done to its advertisers. However, the search engine platform alone is not enough.

Precisely for this reason, in Isola we decided to equip ourselves with a much more effective tool, one that saves our clients quite a bit of money and allows us to offer an even more comprehensive service.

Read on to find out all about this important news!

What are fraudulent clicks on Google Ads

A fraudulent click occurs whenever a user accesses your site via a Google Ads ad without actually being interested in your offer, but only to cause you financial harm.

This practice was first recorded in 1994. However, according to the latest statistics, it is becoming increasingly common in recent years and is mostly performed by competitors. It is therefore a long-standing issue that in the long run risks undermining your business.

In fact, on Google Ads, each click can also cost significant amounts of money that make a difference to the budget. For example, for keywords with high competition, the CPC (Cost Per Click) reaches 10 or 20€, sometimes even more. If fraudulent clicks start to become numerous:

  • You will pay disproportionate amounts of money to the search engine
  • you will have doubts about the effectiveness of online advertising Why, despite many visits, your business doesn’t take off

How Google Ads partially protects you from fraudulent clicks

Google Ads itself has run for cover to address the problem of fraudulent clicks reported repeatedly by savvy users. Today, the leading online advertising platform tries to intercept at least some of the interactions with invalid ads. In other words, it tries to sense what might be improper actions by users interested in harming your business and doesn’t charge you for them.
For example, block:

  • manual clicks with the clear intent of increasing the expenses of the owners of the sites hosted by the ads
  • clicks from illicit software
  • Unnecessary clicks, such as those too close together in time by the same user

However, not all fraudulent clicks are intercepted by Google. On the one hand, because the search engine cashes in every time a person interacts with an advertisement, regardless of their good or bad faith. On the other, because identifying them is really difficult and not part of its core tasks.

Therefore, programs created specifically for this function are needed.

The solution from Isola: always one step ahead

In our web agency we have recently implemented on all accounts a high-value paid system aimed at blocking the 5 main types of fraudulent clicks:

  1. Competitor clicks, executed to run you out of budget and try to excel
  2. Hater clicks, which are people who for various reasons do not like your brand and want to harm you
  3. Bots, or automated robots whose goal is to steal money
  4. Accidental clicks, which a user makes without realizing it but which, if considered, would lead you to spend large amounts of money unnecessarily
  5. So-called farm clicks, which are industrial-scale operations that mimic human behavior and, for that very reason, are almost unrecognizable

This protection goes to further enhance our service of Google Ads management which has always been characterized by its effectiveness and competence. In addition, it allows us to provide our clients with an even more comprehensive monthly report, in which we indicate from time to time theprogress of the campaigns and the actual savings generated by the system, which can reach hundreds of euros.

Once again, our communications agency worked to optimize an offering that already could count on a team consisting of:
